I have a friend whose husband is possibly being transferred to a the military base in L.A. They won't live on the base so she was wondering where they should look for housing? She'll have young ones starting school next year.
So some place that is not too long of a commute--but can be a bit away.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Or know anyone out there who can?

I grew up in the San Fernando Valley, typically called "The Valley". It was a great place to grow up, though times have changed. However, Burbank is located there and is a great place to live. And the school district is separate from LA Unified and has a better reputation.

Where exactly in LA is the base?
LaVerne has good schools. Chris grew up in LA and his brother and wife moved to LaVerne because of the schools. It is right by San Dimas.
Thanks for the help, Jill! The base is in El Segundo, right near LAX. We were thinking we'd like to be in the Redondo Beach area, but don't really know. Any tips are appreciated!
