B-Fast

I was talking with some of my friends the other day and my friend said, "You make breakfast for your kids EVERY day?" I said, "yes, EVERY day". She was baffled, and said "Like what do you make?" So I told her--you know the usual, french toast, scrambled eggs, pancakes etc. etc. And she was shocked that I had time to feed my kids and that I made food every day. And she's a homey make dinner sort of person, so I was shocked that she didn't.

For example our breakfast this week was:

Monday--Homemade Buttermilk waffles, with homemade Buttermilk Syrup (I'm usually not this ambitious on a Monday but I was up at the break of dawn. And I make a double batch and freeze the extra for toaster waffles)

Tuesday--Swedish Pancakes with Strawberries and whipped cream

Wednesday--Scrambled Eggs, Toast, OJ

Thursday--Cinnamon Toast and Hot Chocolate

Friday--Oatmeal (Coach's brand--have you tried it? It's de-lish) and toast

So question is--am I Normal or abnormal? My mom always made breakfast for us, every morning. So I thought everyone did this. We do have cereal some mornings--usually Sunday, so it's not like I'm supermom. But really--what are the stats?

Yes you're supermom. Quit bragging. I hope your kids know how good they have it. When my kids wake up its microwave oatmeal or cereal.

Yep, supermom. I don't make breakfast, but obviously I am trying to get to work on time, so something's gotta give. :)

I make it on the weekends, and maybe once during the week. Between packing lunches, nursing, getting 4 kids ready for school, last minute homework, and having to be out the door by 7:10, it is very hard to do. You are a SUPERMOM, just admit it already!

I do toast most days, I guess I wasn't giving myself credit. I also make pancakes and freeze them, so I guess they kind of get a homemade breakfast, right?

Can I come eat B-fast with you? Sounds delish! I used to make breakfast most days when my children were small and going to school, until they got older and everyone started going to school at different times. I had some children who would rather sleep when they got older than eat breakfast. I don't make it now very often.

you are totally super mom. i don't make breakfast! AT ALL. EVER. ok so maybe that's because i'm doing fabulous hair for 3 girls. and picking out all of their clothes. i can't do it all and i'm not an early riser.

cereal if they are lucky, pb&J and occasionally toast, frozen waffles. nutrigrain bars, pop tarts. donuts. IF THEY ARE LUCKY.

mostly they get the shaft and they leave with nothing. yeah i'm that mom.

I made a new years resolution a few years ago to make my kids breakfast on weekdays, and cereal on sat and sunday...but this year I have slacked off....my girls go to seminary at 6:30, so there is no way Im waking up at 5:30 to fix breakfast for them, so this year its back to cereal and eggos...and then I would feel guilty to make my other kids breakfast that the girls didnt get, so they get cereal too:( Bad mom! You are awesome to make such yummy food!

I'm somewhere in the middle. My kids have to be on the bus at 6:10am. We simply do not have time for a big breakfast, but I also can't afford to feed them cold cereal every morning. So we usually have oatmeal (the regular kind, not instant), pancakes, or scrambled eggs. Saturday's are for cold cereal and Sunday I usually make a big breakfast with pancakes, bacon, eggs, toast, the whole works.

I would have guessed normal and thought I was too.
We make breakfast M-Tu-Th-F. A good, warm, filling one. Most Wed.'s they get a break and get cold cereal as well as all Sun's. Sat. can go either way.
The kids would rather have cold cereal everyday, but I tell them they need better nourishment for a day at school. Something that will stick with them and not leave them starving 2 hours later.

We are a breakfast-loving family. We have a hot breakfast every morning. Waffles, pancakes, eggs with peppers and cheese, sausage, German pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy. (Not all on the same day). Cold cereal is what they love to eat after school as a snack.

What? Are you for reals? What time do you serve breakfast, I'm coming over.

Forget normal and abnormal.
The important part: awesome or nonawesome.
Clearly awesome.
ps: I love oatmeal :)

I've had a comment or two about the same thing. I love cooking a hot breakfast for the kids and hubby. Only if I could enjoy the clean-up as much as making the mess. Cold cereal is for after-school snacks (with or without milk). I also like to serve breakfast for dinner. Like tonight, we had eggs, homemade biscuits and gravy. Y-U-M!
