I was shopping at Trader Joes and a young twenty something store employee stopped me, "Mam", she said, (Mam?? is she really talking to me? mam??) "where did you get your cardigan?" (now that's more like it) "LOFT" I answer. And she stares blankly--"you know, Ann Taylor's LOFT?" Still blank. So I instruct her where to find a store, and move along. So I have found my niche-my choice of caridigan color-still cool, my choice of store to purchase it at--only cool to those of us "Mams".

Fun for Fall
I am not a big fan of Fall. Not that I don't like it. I just don't love it. Possibly because AZ doesn't have a Fall--at least there is nothing around here to indicate that it is Fall i.e. colored leaves, cool breeze etc. etc. But my friend posted a link to this website and it looks super fun. Read the instructions and join if you like. I'm going to do it because it seems like fun. Just click on iit to connect. Check it out!

My New Hair
One of my best friend's in the whole wide world is Darcy. She does hair at HairDo salon. Anyhow, we were roomates way back in the good ol' days and are still friends today. I had one length, never been touched, super long hair when I lived with her. I dare say that it was sun kissed. Then she became my roomate and since then I have had a short platinum pixie, then eggplant short cut, long dark, with bangs without bangs, Red with blonde on top, brown with red streaks and everywhere in between. If you look back at my photos I bet you'll see a different hair in each one. A lot of times people don't recognize me because my hair changes that often. I would say I'm a good client. I sit down and say--do whatever you want. Usually the only question I answer is bangs or no bangs. I am a lover of bangs, but bangs aren't always the hip thing to do. I love swoopy bangs but I have a cowlic (spelling?) so my hair just doesn't do that. So when I went on Tuesday she said she had something super fun and it involved bangs. I was in the process of growing them out and they were about down to my nose. Thing is--she know I'm a sucker for them. So I said--do what you will as long as I look Hip. Here it is--I love it.

Red's First Day
Dropping her off at her school as a NIGHTMARE. There is a driveway that wraps around the school, where drop off parents pull up and drop their kids off. I was there in plenty of time (10 minutes before the bell). all of the drop off zones were full with parents who parked there and walked their kids in. It would be ok if it were the Kindergarten kids. But no--EVERY parent walked their kid in. Which again would be fine--if they used parking spaces instead of the drop off zone. So I couldn't even pull over anywhere to let her out. She only needed to go to the Kindergarten playground. So I had to do one slow round of the school and come back to where I started and it was now 8:03. She needed to be in class by 8:05. so I pulled up and parked in a no parking zone, in front of some garbage cans and consequently blocking in someone. Then I had to run the Kindergarten playground. A random staff member pointed me to an over crowded outside hallway that had a blob of parents and little kids. Luckily I chose a good direction and happened to run into Red's teacher who was saying--"Now we are only missing Red". I said "Here she is" and shoved her into the glob of Kindergartners. I gave her a swift kiss and stepped back. The teacher said--Ok follow me. So the blob followed and I needed to run back to the car that had The Juice sitting inside it and panicking (I was sure of that). So I turned around and walked off. Then I heard Red's voice saying "Mom", and by the time I figured out it was her--I turned around just to see her turning back around and running to catch up to her class. So I imagine she saw me just walking away. I felt bad. Then I get to the car and the juice is sobbing because she didn't get to go to the playground. She sobs all the way home about the injustice of it all. Then as I go to get her out I notice the camera on the front seat. OH CRAP--I MISSED TAKING A PICTURE. crap crap crap. Oh well. I know most mom's cried as they walked their kid to Kindergarten. I tried. I sat and concentrated at the thought of my little girl growing up. NOTHIN. Truth is--I was stoked to see her go. She is so bored at home and there comes a time when kids are done being at home with mama. Her time is now. Oh--and she loved Kindergarten. Loves it everyday--even loves her homework.
Oh and her cool outfit was one her Dad got when school shopping--he rocks. As for the folder--we were good parents and let her pick her own. So of course out of all the options we set before her (none of them being a kitty folder), she looked past us onto the shelf and said "I want the Kitty One" Of course she did. And that's what she got.

Burning the 11 pm oil
So the other night Hy and I put the girls to bed around 8 or so. They were still awake, but we knew they would stay in their room and eventually go to sleep. (we stay upstairs) So we told Hy's mom (who we live with right now) not to check on them, because they tend to sucker her into letting them go lay with her in her bed. So she didn't check on them. Hy and I went out to Target for about 1/2 hour and then came back and watched a movie downstairs. As we were walking upstairs to go to bed around 11:00 pm, we could hear little voices. So at first we thought the TV was on, so we looked and it wasn't. Then we though possibly Baby Kiz was just awake hanging out in her crib--which sometimes happens. So we were tiptoeing past their room so she wouldn't spot us. As we opened the door to our bedroom we realized that it wasn't Baby Kiz. Red was sitting as wide eyed as ever, playing on NOGGIN on the computer. She was holding up the Juice who was totally crashed. All Red could do was giggle. All we could do was try not to show her how funny we thought it was. So we took video tape (which I'd post if I could figure out how to convert it to Quiktime) and we took photos. Then we sent them to bed. It was so funny!!! Poor Juice was so crashed and Red was just holding her in place. Apparently my affair with the computer is now spilling into the younger generation.

Are you afraid of color???
Are you afraid of color??? I'm not. I was checking out the archives of Domino Magazine trying to find a fern green color that I remember from one of the issues. My issues and my ideas notebook are all packed away. I didn't find it but I did find these fabulous colors. I think I've got the bedrooms all picked. I just don't know what to do with the bathrooms/kitchen and living room. Any ideas??

My new bag

Check out my new bag. I got it at Target--where else? I think I'm going to use it as a Sunday only bag, so it will always be stocked with crayons, paper, snacks, diapers, wipe etc. etc. It's fairly big and that is why I wanted it for Sunday. It also comes in orange, black and red, but I chose brown so it would go with everything.

BREAKING NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!
I have been biting my lip not slipping up in my posts. My goal was to wait until the loan cleared, but that might not be for a week or so and I couldn't stand it anymore. As my friends know, this has been a long desired thing. No more condo living, no more in-law living. I will have 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms and a BACKYARD!!! Oh and don't forget a GARAGE! Some of you may wonder why I am so excited about the basics. Living with 3 kids in a 2 bedroom upstairs condo is not fun. My girls can run and not be stopped because of downstairs neighbors, and I can send them out back to play when I'm cleaning the house. I can babysit other people's kids finally!!!! I seriously have been so giddy since this happened. It happened rather quickly. Last Monday we weren't even looking for a house because we thought we couldn't ever afford one. Then we figured out a way and realized that if we don't buy now, we can't once Hy changes jobs (another story). So we went looking for houses on Tuesday, and thought we had found one we liked and were seriously considering putting in an offer. Then that night the bishopric member came over and extended us a calling to the Nursery (I had just been released from Primary President in January and had been substituting in the Primary pretty much from then on). One of his points was "and it's great because you have a child in nursery". So Hy and I walked him to the door and once it was shut, he looked at me and I looked at him and we said--"we're moving". We think Heavenly Father has a sense of humor too and that the nursery calling was his funny way of telling us to move out of Hy's parents house. So anyway, we got a good deal on this house. It has super tacky curvy tile (I know, I know where did they purchase it--I have no idea) and the bathrooms and kitchen are original. So since we got such a good deal, we kept some cash out to redo. So we're pulling up the floor and tearing out the bathroom and pulling down the kitchen cabinets. So I have been spending lots of time building my IKEA kitchen (this will be the second one I've built--I absolutely loved my first). We will be hiring out the floors. So I've been researching new appliances and such. Very exciting. This picture is not of our house, but actually my friend's house who lives two streets up. It is the same style, but ours has a lame paint job. That too will be changed after a while. Anyhow--so excited!!! Oh-and if anyone has any reccomendations for flooring people, or drywall people or any kind of people--let me know!!
Ode to Husband
Many of you were going on and on and on about your husbands being great, so I thought I'd join in. I have no picture to post because I'm on my in-law's PC and Hy is watching a movie on the MAC. He is super great but the reason I'm dedicating a post to him is this----He took Red School shopping. How many husbands do that? He alternates taking the girls on dates, which they absolutely love. Usually it's to get something like a doughnut or ice cream. But last night he took her out and went to Old Navy and Target and bought her school clothes. He did a great job too. And I knew he would, that's why I handed the duty over to him. They both absolutely loved it and he came home with 3 pair of pants and about 5 or 6 shirts. Then Red modeled them for us which included a pretend jaunt down a catwalk and a flip of the hair. It was fun. He loves his girls and they absolutely love him, and so do I.

Red's Photobooth
I've decided to do a weekly photo blog entry dedicated to my daughter's love for photo booth. She's five and she can run the computer all by herself. Photobooth is her favorite (we are a MAC loving family) and every once in a while I come up here and check what she's done. If you are not familiar with MAC computers or Photobooth it is a program that uses a built in camera and all you do is click a buttom and it takes your picture, you can also do it several different ways with colors and distortion. I never see her do these, I never know when she does them, but she always sneaks in here and does it. Cracks me up every time--I never know which one to post
