F.M. Radio

I yell at the radio. EVERY MORNING. I talk outloud in my car and the kids says--"Who are you talking to?"

I'm talking to the radio. The hosts of NPR's morning edition have had some words from me. Well, more it's the people the are talking to, and most importantly--what they are talking about.

This morning's edition: Politics.

I am starting to call it Anger 2012. At least that is what it is for me.

Today's piece was on businesses leaders on opposite ends of the spectrum, one that ran and op. ed article in the Washington Post and another who took out a full page ad in the Times.

The ad read--if "Obama is elected I am going to shut down my business and lay off my 12 employees". They interviewed him and he told a story of how he built the business he has and has worked his butt off for, and with Obama's idea of taxing the rich--they will be taking 50% of what he makes. That pushes him over the edge.

The other man's piece supported Obama's taxing of the rich. Stating that Jesus took care of the poor and that is our duty. He had received Government grants to put him through school, therefore the Government is good

. . . and that is when I yelled at the radio.

Being a good Jesus follower myself, I agree--Jesus wants us to take care of each other. But since when does that mean through the Government? Jesus also wants us to freely give of our time, talent and yes--MONEY. But forcing the rich to pay the government more than everyone else in the name of "helping our fellow men"--not what Jesus had in mind. Did he read the Bible? Jesus is not too keen on corrupt Governments. Who do you think killed the man? And no one is going to get into heaven stating that they paid their taxes. Come on, for real??

And yes, I think our Government is corrupt.

Does the first man hate the poor and want to squish them under his feet? No. Actually I don't know his opinion, they didn't ask him. But I tell you this--what I know of the wealthy are not those kind of people, although the media and Obama's political team would love for you to think that.

Remember my degree from college--Non-Profit Health and Human Service Administration. Those stiff and formal words mean--I know about taking care of the poor--and the sick--and the unfortunate. And all of those places exist because of . . . THE WEALTHY. *GASP!* Those horrible people that make so much money and keep the little guy down. They provide funds to establish an entity that allows collaboration among horrible rich men and the normal middle class and the poor man. Together they to help those who need it most. And their financial books? Public record. And if you don't like what they are doing--you go down to the board meeting and say so. Or you take your time, talents and MONEY elsewhere. It provides a choice. And throws red tape beaurocracy out the window.

People need to see that those left wing hippy socialists and the right wing capitalist pigs and anyone in between actually agree on that the poor need help.

They just differ on who should provide it.

And me? Where do I fall? The government has it's role and place--limited but also essential. Let the rich, poor and anyone in the middle be taxed equally so no one can cry foul to the other. (flat tax people--and get rid of the Tax season)

Increasing tax on the rich will cause two things.
1. The rich will leave the country (as evidenced in France)
2. They will give less to non profits--who are far more efficient and effective than the government at taking care of those in need.

Both will hurt our country, create more need by loss of jobs, and excacerbate the current state of those in need.

Why does the Government think that because someone makes a certain amount of money--then they are entitled to part of it? Does that scare anyone else other than me? The Government could someday choose something I own or earn and say they are entitled to it "for the greater good". And if you think the government won't--you have been duped by the powers that be.

Wow. I feel better now. And I didn't even make it too long. That is just one thing that got me talking to the radio.

Don't even get me started on the national debt. 6 trillion in four years, when all of the previous presidents combined spent 10 trillion. Does this not scare the pants off of anyone else than me? How is that possible? Who can spend that much--and on what??

Oh no, I said don't get me started.

Rich people should give their money away

Someone PLEASE explain this to me.

Why does everyone--or at least many government officials--hate the rich?

My morning NPR has brought me to this morning's rant. Pansy politicians who want the rich to be punished--because they are rich--those wealthy bastards. Seriously?

Bush's tax cuts end at the end of the year. So politicians are scrambling at what to do. Taxes are supposed to go up across the board. An estimated 2.5% for everyone. The estate tax to 55% that's right people, you get taxed twice for making money.

Their thinking as presented on the radio: It's a recession, we can't up taxes. The public would be outraged. But then again, if we just up the taxes for people who make over $250,000 then that could show the people of America how we are serious about the deficit. The only people who aren't happy with taxing the rich are the rich. (that is actually what they said)

Um, WRONG. I'm not happy with it. And I'm the poor. TECHNICALLY poor. I think we're actually technically poverty at the moment, but that is just ridiculous.

Why do the rich have to take care of everything? Did they get rich by never having to pay taxes, or working hard? No. It's not fair. If they choose to work 80+ hour weeks and max out their credit cards to start a business that ends up becoming successful then we should celebrate that. Because guess what, they created jobs. LOTS and LOTS of jobs. And even if they didn't. It's THEIR money. We have NO RIGHT to it. They should be treated like everyone else. EVERYONE should be taxed the same. Make it fair.

Because you know what it actually does? It makes the rich want to hide their money in off shore accounts. OR it makes people like dentists and doctors figure out a way to make $249,999 a year just to fly under the radar. Even though they should be able to make as much money as they want. They went to at least 8 years of school AFTER high school. It's a sacrifice--they should earn the money they deserve and not be punished for it.

And the pansy politicians. Some want to vote on it soon (the ones from poor areas) to show that they are serious about things. Then the ones from the suburbs want to wait until after elections. Their constituents are "the rich". Balls up people. Do what you would do either way.

Politicians suck.

UGGGGGHHH. GGRRRRRRR. Expletive.

Oh and the estate tax. Don't forget about that. Here is the letter from the government:

Dear people who are dead,

Thank you for working so hard for the American dream. You saved (unlike us) and lived within your means (unlike us) you managed your estates well (unlike us). Thank you for working at a time when industry was actually located IN America. For working jobs that required shift work, hard hats and steel toed boots. We as a government salute you (suckers) with our hands to our foreheads (or our middle fingers). The taxes that you paid on that hard earned money has paid for roads and schools and so many worthwhile programs. Again we thank you (*snort).

Now that you are dead, as of January 1st, 55% of it is now OURS. We hope your work ethic and thriftiness is passed on to your children (so we can someday take their money too--oh wait we just did). Didn't anyone tell you that you can't take it with you?

Sincerely,

U.S. Government

Post note: This rant is dedicated to my hardworking, thrifty parents. Who have no debt, have money in the bank, and land with a home that is paid in full. I will do my best as your daughter to lawfully make sure that the government doesn't see a penny of what you worked so hard for. I just need to find me a "rich" person who knows the tricks.

National Debt

The national debt FREAKS ME OUT. I want some sort of "Dear Government, get us out of debt, I have to live on a budget and so should you" sort of T-shirt I could wear everywhere everyday. I am pretty extreme in my how I think the government should cut spending. You could call it heartless, I just call it drastic. We are at that point.

Like why are we sending aid to all of these countries that are experiencing natural disasters and to poor countries that need vaccinations? I think they need help, but we don't have ANY money. We are putting donations on a credit card. We give aid to almost everyone. But seriously, it's time everyone gave aid to us. We are like the rich guy who lives in the rich neighborhood and drives the brand new Jaguar and wears brand new name brand clothes and goes on elaborate vacations, and then you notice one day there is a foreclosure notice on his house and people are repossessing his crap like gangbusters. Turns out that guy didn't really have any money.

Now before you think I'm absolutely heartless, I'm not. My degree was in non-profit health and human services, and I KNOW that the American people take care of themselves and others by donations and service. That is how things should be. And why does America always have to be the ones that swoop in and help everyone. It's time that we take a back seat and say, "Guess what--we aren't in a position to help everyone right now" "But call China, they are ready to step up onto the world stage and help everyone" Why is it ALWAYS America? I am not naive to say that no other countries send aid. They do, but we usually send the biggest chunk. Really. Let's play a game of Tag. Tag E.U., Tag Japan, Tag South American countries, Tag Canada. Please step in for us until we get back on our feet, then when we are debt free and living on a balanced (or surplus--nah never) budget then we would happy to let you tag us back and we will be the leaders yet again.

Also, get us out of war---that's expensive, quit spending to fix our economy (part of my theory is that America is spending so Americans are not--it scares them), reduce the size of government and hand it back to the people (that is what our founders dreamed of), create a law that says that the budget must be balanced or all overspending comes from the incomes and retirement of the politicians (that might put a fire under their butts now wouldn't it?).

But that is never going to happen, we are too busy vacationing in Bali. (Thanks for fronting us the money China--your I.O.U. is in the mail)

p.s. The reason I'm thinking about this TODAY is because I went HERE and read what my debt free hero had to say on the subject. Make sure to listen to the audio part.

FIRE THEM ALL!!!

It's 7:30 a.m.

It's 7:30 a.m. on a Saturday morning. I've been up since 6:04. My house is dirty and I don't want to clean it because my kids made the mess. I let them, because I didn't feel well last night, but still--not my mess. I'm fighting cleaning it because I actually have the energy. But the point is that they need to learn to clean up after themselves. So I sat down at the computer abut 20 minutes ago and just started waisting time. F.Y.I. none of the girls clothing store carry the boyfriend jeans for the Fall. BOOO. Unless you are a plus size, then GAPKIDS has some left for $10! My kids are unplus. While looking at jeans I realized they are all ugly. I"m done with skinny, I'm done with bootcut, and flare has sucked for a while. My kids have to wear pants to school which bites. Really? At least let them wear capris or something. Ugh. I picked the school so I really shouldn't complain. I'm hungry, but I don't want cereal. Now that I actually have started looking at the ingredients I don't want to eat cereal. I've really started to annoy myself with my current obsession about food. Nothing is healthy unless I'm eating straight vegetables. (Calli I partially blame you) Processed food has really freaked me out lately. And although we just found THE MOST DELICIOUS home made Mac n' Cheese recipe, I felt guilty the whole time I was eating it because it wasn't nutritious. I want to get out of my head. I used to think alot like this in college and I remember talking to my friend Ryan Solomon about how we wish we could just turn out brains off. I can't quit thinking and it's driving me crazy. The other day I got depressed because I have a happy and relatively easy life while there are service men and women out there who are fighting and living in the heat with crappy conditions. I couldn't stop feeling guilty about it. WHAT? I can't fix that. Out of my control. But still won't stop thinking about it. And I'm already worried about who my three girls will marry and if they will be able to have children. WHAT??? My oldest is 8. I'm just afraid that with the way things are now, it is just going to be worse years from now and all of the boys will be stupid shmucks who aren't good enough and I'll just have to bite my lip and watch them deal with hard things. Then what if my son ends up being one of those creepy shmucks that tries to feel a girl up on the first date? Then my kid is a creepy Mormon boy (I've dated some) that can't control his hormones. WHAT?? Then what about Obama? Czars scare the hell out of me. I've never been scared for the future of America, I've never felt it be so divided, I've never been this scared of Government control. And the more I read about the founding fathers the more I realize how out of touch this government is (and former governments) from what they were trying to set up and I fear that due to my lack of knowledge of history and others lack as well, we are doomed to make horrible decisions. It feels so divided. The Government is suing our State for enforcing a FEDERAL LAW. That is just absurd. And on NPR the guest said that what is written in the 25 page lawsuit was something to the effect of "This law will disrupt relations with Mexico" and that is one of the major factors in the lawsuit. UM???? WHAT??? You know what disrupts my relations with Mexico?? The fear of death if I go there. Um, their drug cartels telling our law enforcement that they have snipers set up on the other side of the border and to watch their step, or a rancher being killed on his own land, or 20 people being killed 12 miles from the AZ border 20! I think Arizona should file a counter lawsuit against the feds for NOT enforcing federal law. What about all of the people who do it the legal way, file papers and do all of what is required of them to become citizens. What about them? What a slap in the face it is to see others do it illegally and get away with it. This morning I thought about how annoyed I am when I stand in line for a new movie, get their hours early so I can get a seat, sit and listen to stupid people talk about stupid things, and finally they let the line go and then I watch someone walk past the line and just sneak in the front. I want to rip their hair out. And that is just a movie. It doesn't affect my whole life. I couldn't imagine what the legal immigrants feel like. WHAT?? I want eggs for breakfast, and went to Fresh and Easy thursday to pick up some things. On my list was eggs 99 cents for 18 count. So I was going to load up. and I forgot. So now I"m eggless, and as you know I can't eat cereal. Toast is out because it's processed. My stomach is growling.

All of this by 7:30 a.m. (and I kept A LOT to myself)

Chase Blows

Can you tell by that I'm pissed by that Title. I have a credit card with Chase and they are HORRIBLE. And having called and vented to my friend, she said that Financial guru Dave Ramsey (whom I will blog about another time) said that CHASE is the WORST company for customer service.

So true. For one thing, they switched my payment due date, without notifying me. Um??? what??? But luckily I had checked it early that time. So I paid it online, which I swear I've done before. But it turns out, that my bank info that I put in didn't have the correct prefix/suffix. So the payment got rejected. So I call them up to try to figure it out and they said, well, ya, you didn't add the prefix and suffix so . . . sorry---here is a $35 fee for that being kicked back and also a $30 LATE Fee. So I told them to check my account, I have NEVER, EVER been late on a payment, and I pay my card off in full, when I use it, every month. I am a good customer, so is there something they could do.

NO they said, don't even bother talking it to a supervisor, they won't do anything either. So I started a back and forth e-mail communication through the message center to which I got the standard BULLCRAP of

"we understand the frustration you must feel" blah blah blah--PUKE.

"there is NOTHING we can do"

Um . . don't lie to me, and be patronizing. There is ALWAYS something you can do. So I asked them to shut it down. Assuming they'd send me to someone trying to save me as a customer, but they didn't. She put me on hold, then came back and said--it's closed.

The reason they didn't retain me (and I've been learning this on the talk radio) is that to them I am NOT a good customer. I cost them money, because they don't make any interest off me--I use their services for free--so I was disposable.

But I tell you this, if that day comes when I have to take out a hefty loan---say for something like purchasing a medical office--or anything of the sort.

For DAMN sure it won't be with Chase--even if they did offer a better deal.

**addition--I just checked my balance of my CLOSED and PAID IN FULL account. Balance now of $2.78 what the? So I called and she said it was due on the 2nd and I paid on the 4th so it was the interest. I wasn't thinking so I just got off the phone. Then what the?? I remembered that I paid it off on the new due date they had gave me. I paid it at the CHASE bank locally. But it didn't post for two days. Because I paid on a Saturday, it didn't post until Monday. I just called to yell, but I was on hold for so long I bailed. UGH

CHASE BLOWS!

Doing the dishes

I was doing the dishes after breakfast this morning, and I was running the hot water from the tap and rinsing the dishes, then putting them into the dishwasher. And I thought, "I love HOT water" . And then I thought how I'm pretty good at not wasting water--and that made me remember that one time I heard that Jennifer Anniston only takes 3 minute showers to conserve water. Good for her--not for me. So then I thought how I take long hot showers and how I LOVE every minute of it. Then that made me think of the term "carbon footprint". Then that made me think of Leonardo DiCaprio and Al Gore.

I have always wanted a show like 20/20 or something to do a comparison. A TRUE comparison of celebrities versus a family like mine. I don't think anyone would ever do it properly because media is biased. But if someone could, I want them to look REALLY LOOK at the environmental impact that I have compared to any of them. They jet around the world making speeches and creating videos all about what we SHOULD be doing for our planet. The only trips I will make today will be to run my kids 1/4 mile to the bus stop, and possibly 3 miles to the gym. And maybe, if it's a spicy day, I may go 1/2 mile to the grocery store. And that's a big day during the work week.

I recycle, anything and everything I can. I don't let the water run while I brush my teeth. I only wash FULL loads of laundry. And I don't think I'm that environmentally friendly. But I guarantee you that the movies that they are in create quite a footprint.

THINK ABOUT IT. How hypocritical is someone that takes a PRIVATE jet with full crew to different places around the world and tell everyone to "conserve, live GREEN"? Guess what, Dear Al, there is a thing called "Technology". It's called teleconferencing. I'm pretty sure with your connections you could hook up with a local TV crew and stream your round face to the EU or Russia or Madagascar. HMMMM, no jet fuel, no emissions from the limo, etc. etc. Well hell, if that doesn't work, you can come use my MAC with the built in camera and you could ichat away. Or make a video on photobooth and put it on you tube. EVEN CHEAPER! And if that doesn't work, you could at least call up Leo. Maybe you could jet pool to your next summit--they might even let you fly in the fast lane.

So bring it on. Let's compare. I'll take you on with not only me, but add in my husband and four kids. In fact, you could probably factor in most of my neighbors and it wouldn't even come CLOSE. We are too middle class for that.

It's all of us who actually live and do, more than those who talk and front. We are the ones making up for everyone else. But we are used to that--aren't we.

And THAT makes me proud.

Slap in the face

On my trip to Target this morning for diaper rash cream. I heard the news on NPR.

And the Nobel Peace Prize goes to . . .

Barrack Obama

To which I responded out loud to no one:

"YOU HAVE GOT TO BE FREAKIN' KIDDING ME"

He's done nothing. NOTHING.

They played the audio at the press conference. Audible gasps are heard after the announcement. Apparently I'm not the only one who thought he was undeserving.

Even the expert they were interviewing said "He has done nothing to merit this award"

Apparently, because you're THE OBAMA you get all sorts of accolades you don't deserve.

The expert noted that Europeans LOVE the Obama, but Middle America, not so much.

We all know why. Because in Middle America, you earn your rewards. You don't get International awards because of your "ideas". You have to prove yourself, and that he has not done. Even the expert said it. In fact she said the deadline for the nominations was 12 days after he was elected. 12 DAYS.

She went on to say that it is all about his Vision of Hope and Change, and that he can lead the international community to come together for peace. Let me reiterate. He had done nothing. But he "can" in theory.

Barf.

So scoot over Martin Luther King, and Mother Teresa. What did you guys ever do for Peace?

You could have saved yourselves a lot of work and time by just talking about change.

That is what we want to teach American kids. You don't have to do anything, and you can get a highly prestigious award (or what used to be).

Next up: Obama get's MTV's artist of the year award for singing along in the presidential limo. (question is will Kanye cry foul and take away his moment? hmmmmm)

For Serious?

I have avoided buying replacement blades for my razor for months. No kidding MONTHS. Because I refuse to pay that much. So I was excited to see a $3 coupon in the mail for razor refills. I was stoked. I figured the razor refills are about 9 bucks, -$3 coupon=$6. I'm ok with that. So I head off to Wal Mart, stroll into the razor section and

WHAT THE????

The razor REFILLS I had a coupon were $15.00 or almost $20.00 (two different versions). ARE YOU SERIOUS? How are they getting away with this? It's plastic and three tiny little razor blades. How do they justify it? It was something like the new Venus Embrace or something. They looked exactly liked the old ones I used to use, just with a new color packaging. And the old ones were ridiculous. So I thought I'd just suck it up and buy the old version. But it was 4 for $9.42. That's about $2.50 PER cartridge. REALLY? REALLY? (can you tell I'm excited about this). I thought it would be more environmentally friendly if I just got the cartridges and not the whole disposable razor. But NO FREAKING WAY am I going to pay $2.50 for 1 little baby cartridge that I KNOW cost them about 25 cents to make. It's PLASTIC people and paper thin metal.

So I flipped Venus and the environment the bird and bought 4 disposable razors for $.99. Yes 4. At that price I could use a new one every time I shaved (that's once a week IF I remember)

Take that Gillette.

Paternity Test Tuesday

So I'm driving to my friend's house to photograph her newborn and I'm flipping through the stations (cause they all Suck) and I stop on one and hear:

"Paternity Test Tuesday!"

What the frick?

So of course I listen as the story unfolds.

In the studio are a man and a woman. The woman is in the middle of a divorce, and the man is married. The woman is trying to figure out if the father of the TWO year old is:

a) Her current husband whom she is divorcing

OR

b) The married man in the studio with her

She's hoping that it is her current husband's child.

and the results are:

THE MARRIED MAN!

So I keep listening, thinking, ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME? This is what this generation has reduced itself to? Paternity Test Tuesday. And for real---that girl knew who the father was--she's no dummy.

And NO KIDDING this is what she said:

"I was hoping it was my husband's because I never wanted my kids to have different dads."

REALLY? REALLY? You didn't want your kids to have different dads? How about next time-- you don't screw a married man, or actually, ANY man other than your husband.

That, MY DEAR, is how you don't have kids with different daddies.

Who want's a beer?

I haven't been political in a while, but my brother sent me this. I thought it made it out plain and simple.

Snarky--this one's for you:

The link is HERE or read it below.

How Socialism Works in the Real World
by Terry Easton
05/14/2009

David Kamerschen is a professor of Economics at the University of Georgia who has fun teaching economics to new students fresh to the field. Lots of people who teach economics, including yours truly, have used a variation of David's illustration over the years. It never fails to hit the mark -- if not Marx.

Econ 101 or its equivalent is usually a required course for most college students, most of whom groan when they are forced to take a class in the "dismal science". That's because they never were exposed to real-world lessons in economics when they were in grade school. If we begin to teach our children the facts about how things really work when they are 8 instead of 18, we'd get much smarter voters at 18 -- and far less mushy-thinking socialist "progressives".

Bar Stool Economics:

Let's suppose that a group of 10 graduate students regularly go out to a pub for beer, and the tab for the 10 comes to $100 total. If they pay for their bill the way Americans pay for our taxes (based on our so-called "progressive" tax system), the breakout would be like this:

The first 4 people (the poorest) pay nothing. They get to drink for free.
The fifth pays $1
The sixth pays $3
The seventh pays $7
The eighth pays $12
The ninth pays $18
The tenth person (the richest) pays $59.

Being good friends and liberal progressives, that's what they all agree to do. It seems only fair that each person should pay what they can afford to pay, remembering the old adage they learned in school: "from each according to his ability, to each according to his need" (Karl Marx).

Every few days, the 10 good friends would meet up in the pub and would pay up as agreed upon.

Then one day, the proprietor gave them a deal. "Since you are such good customers, from now on", he said, "I'm going to reduce the cost of your tab by $20. You can just pay me $80!"

Everyone wanted to continue to pay their bill just the same way as they had before. So the first four people (the poorest) are unaffected. They continue to get to drink for free.

But what about the remaining 6 people? How should they split up the unexpected $20 savings "windfall" so that everyone would get "his fair share"? They figured that $20 shared by 6 comes out to $3.33 each. But if they simply subtracted that amount from each of the 6 paying friends, then person #5 and person #6 would actually be paid to have their beers since person #5 only paid $1 anyway and person #6 only paid $3!

What to do?

The pub owner came to their rescue. He suggested that each person's bill should be reduced by roughly the same amount, and he used his calculator to work out what that should be:

Persons 1-4 continue to get to drink for free
The fifth person, like the first four, now pays nothing and drinks for free (100% savings!)
The sixth pays just $2 instead of the original $3 (33% savings!)
The seventh pays just $5 instead of the original $7 (28% savings!)
The eighth pays just $9 instead of the original $12 (25% savings!)
The ninth pays just $15 instead of the original $18 (17% savings!)
The tenth pays just $49 instead of the original $59 (16% savings!)

All 6 friends were better off then before. And their first four buddies continued to drink for free, because they didn't have a lot of money.

They all felt pretty good about it.

After they thanked the pub owner and left to walk back to campus, they began to compare their savings under this new deal.

The sixth person was very quiet, though. Finally he blurted out. "You know, splitting up the bill that way wasn't fair! I only got a dollar out of that $20 we all saved, and yet (he pointed to the tenth person) he got $10!"

"Hey, you're right", shouted the seventh person. "I got cheated too. I only saved 2 dollars. It's unfair that he got back 5 times more than me!"

"Damn it! I've been ripped off too", yelled the eighth. "Why should he get back $10 when I got back only $3. The wealthy get all the breaks!"

"Wait a minute", screamed friends one through four. "We didn't get anything at all! The system exploits the poor!"

The first nine people surrounded the tenth person and beat him up.

The next day, tempers had cooled down and the nine friends showed back up at the pub. They were sorry for what they had done and they wanted to apologize to their tenth friend.

But the tenth person didn't show up for drinks. So the nine proceeded to drink without him.

When it came time to pay the tab, they discovered that they had a problem. They didn't have enough money among all nine of them to pay for even half of the bill!

"And that, boys and girls, journalists and college professors, is how our tax system works", says Professor Kamershen. "The people who pay the highest taxes get the most benefit from a tax reduction. Tax them too much, attack them for being wealthy, and they just may not show up anymore. In fact, they might start drinking overseas where the atmosphere is somewhat friendlier."

President Obama and the Democratically-controlled congress, good wannabe socialists all, should remember this lessen before all of the rich people (mostly Democrats, by the way, but that's the topic of another article) stop going to the pub with all their other good friends. Raising taxes using a "progressive" tax system penalizes the productive, wealthiest members of our society much more than the average taxpayer. And I'm against that even though it would hurt the many Democrat billionaires far more.

And once we tip over the edge where 50% of the population don't pay income tax at all (the first five "good friends"), we create an us-and-them mentality where the first five vote in the politicians they want to continue to get their beers for free.

But there's no such thing as a free lunch. Someone always pays. Until they can't or don't anymore.

John Galt couldn't have said it plainer.

I want a new t-shirt

I want a new t-shirt:

DON'T TRUST THE MEDIA

I think all media is ridiculously biased now matter which wing you're on. I didn't ask for your opinion, I asked for news. Now thanks to You Tube we don't need journalists anymore.

But CNN--for real??? You got told.

p.s. Word on the street is that CNN is trying to use "copyright" issues to stop youtube from allowing this piece to be on their site.

Excitement

To know what I"m talking about, check my previous post.

Here are some pics. It was so fun. So many people out. And the best part was that it was your normal, hard working, middle class bunch. And the best part is that it is done peacefully. No damage to anything, no crazy chanting. At some Tea Party events across the country they did food drives.

I love me some good ol' boys

Check out Luke, Sheri and I in our rad new t-shirts.

and I saw my friend Calli and took a picture of her mom under the "Don't Tread on Me" Flag

I'm Busy

If you're trying to get a hold of me from 12:00pm-1:00pm I'll be at a TEA PARTY:

I don't see it happening

Politics. Again. I know, it's popping up all over, and a lot on my blog. So here goes some more. My brother, a good ol' right winger, loves to send me stuff. Some of it good, some of it over the top. But then he sent me this article. Long, very long. But I read it. And it stirs inside me. It stirs something that has never been stirred until now, by now I mean the last year or so, but more now. I've never been politically active, never really cared to. I hate hearing the blah blah blah of both sides--each lying about the other, or making gross overstatements. I know this because I listen to both NPR and KTAR. Both wings. But this article (among others I've been reading) make my heart beat a little faster. Do I think that Obama is a super socialist lunatic? NO. I think he is trying to do what he thinks is right and fair. In theory I would love for everyone to be fed, taken care of with a beautiful house to live in. My college degree is in Health and Human Service Administration. That means non-profit organizations, YMCA, Food Banks, Red Cross, Boys and Girls clubs etc. etc. I am not good at making money or charging people for things. I just want everyone to get things.

But I was raised by hard working parents, who had hard working parents, who had hard working parents. And being that for my career I was around "the poor" I have learned that they are there by choice. I know it's PC to cry rivers for the poor. They have been jilted by everyone--wah wah wah. But I know this--They don't live in Cuba. They live in America. They live in a land where, if they want to, they can make anything of themselves. They can get a college education for free ( I know I applied for many scholarships that weren't available to be because I wasn't poor enough, or ethnic enough). If they are immigrants, they can get free English classes. The poor can receive free job training and placement. They can get free child care to do these things. And these aren't government programs. These are non-profit programs. Programs that are funded by who???? Oh the Wealthy bastards everyone hates so much. Yes the people who have so much money coming out their wazoos that they set up trusts and foundations to fund these organizations.

I saw it, I worked it, I know it.

That's why it stirs inside me when I hear "Distribution of Wealth". To me I hear "Beat down the rich so they don't want to work hard anymore and piss on the hopes and dreams of everyone". If the rich people (who apparently hate the poor) aren't there to fund programs for the people the supposedly hate, then who is going to? OH, that's right, no one. These non-profit organizations will go away, but that's ok because the government is there to make everyone wealthy and equal.

But I don't see it happening. One thing America is known for is fighting. And I've never been a fighter, but I feel that fighter coming out. My husband at one point planned to go to medical school. That is 8 years of education/training beyond the 4 years he had already done in college. And lots of money and lots of sacrifice of family time. I tell you this. If we were into the wealth distribution plan, he wouldn't do it. I am not going to sacrifice my family time, for other people to sit on their butts and get the money he worked so hard and sacrificed so much for.

That is why I don't see it happening. Because the people like me who have sat silent for so long, just minding our own business and working day to day, are no longer being silent. We are a country with ancestry of freedom fighters. It's within us all. We will fight for liberty and live free or die trying.

So try as you will for these things---Big Government Peeps, but be ready for a fight.

Some highlights of the aforementioned article:

"For the liberal ideologue, poverty is not an economic condition per se, a temporary condition of low earnings that can be alleviated over time as those who are poor pursue opportunities and become better off. Rather, it is a permanent and reified condition: the poor are not just those who are earning less than others; they are those who have been made poor and who will continue poor, poverty being inherited in the manner that aristocratic titles may be in Britain. One acquires one's victimhood and retains it all one's life and passes it down to one's progeny, and just as aristocratic titles retain their own perks, so does impoverishment. "

That's right I said it

I've been stewing about this "Economic Crisis" thing for months. Some of the things I say may be heartless and stinging but I think they are true--and I'm not apologizing.

I'm one of those people that hates to hear people complain about anything. My motto is --do something about it or shut up.

All I'm hearing everywhere is whine whine whine, blame blame blame. No one is stepping up and saying--I had a part in this and I'm going to do what I can to step up.

I want ONE just ONE somebody somewhere to step up and do just that.

Politicians---pointless. They are too busy pointing fingers and talking trash to get anything done. How is that I can work in an environment, like most people, who have differing opinions right and left and still get something accomplished. And they can do nothing--worthless piles.

I come from blue collar. Small town, hard working, do it yourself sort of stock. My dad built our house all on his own without any sort of carpentry know how. He read books. When they moved he hung the front door that day. They lived with milk crates as cupboards for years. They paid as they went. Now my dad is retired, his house is paid for, his cars are paid for his EVERYTHING is paid for. My parents never had credit card debt. If they ever used one, they paid it off at the end of the month. If they didn't have money for something, they didn't do it or they didn't buy it. And they saved their money--yes, savings. Guess what--now they are living well. Not crazy--own a second home in Sand Diego well, but clear conscience we have no debt and enough to live on and buy things we want, well.

I wish everyone was raised with that example. Because guess what--if everyone were like my parents---we wouldn't be in this mess.

I was listening to the radio today and they were talking about helping those with mortgages that are all about to foreclose. REALLY? Oh I'm so sorry for all those people who bought houses they couldn't afford with money they didn't have and a stated income that didn't exist. Oh poor poor them. UM . . NOT.

I do know some people got hoodwinked. Mortgages are hard to understand and there are lying cheats out there who just wanted to make a buck. But I also know that those people who got hoodwinked are people who are probably busting their butts right now to do all they can to make their payment and who, if they could, would just want to refinance at a normal rate like everyone else--not a special rate for the poor taken advantage of souls--just a flat rate on what they owe. I can deal with that.

But on the radio today they were saying how people who are upside down in their mortgages and behind on their payments may get to refinance at rates as low as 2%. The first words out of my mouth were :

BullSh** (A term I learned from my hard working, blue collar, pay as you go parents)

Let me let you in on a little secret. My husband and I bought a house with a mortgage that is more than we can afford right now. That is, more than we can afford with our basic monthly income. And in order to afford it, every year when we get our tax return, we use it to pay the shortage in our mortgage each month. We don't buy fun things with it. Because we CAN'T AFFORD FUN THINGS. And the stimulus money we got last year--it was going to go to a trip to Disneyland, but then instead we paid to fix our 1994 suburban. As for Disneyland--we never told our kids about it. In fact they don't know Disneyland exists, because we never told them about it, so they don't know what they are missing. And guess what--they are happy children--I know--shocker. Ok, I digressed, back to my point.

We, like most of you, are paying our mortgage on time in full. We figure it out. So why is it that the people who made BAD DECISIONS get a 2% interest rate to stay in their home that they purchased that was too much for them and we get nada?

Oh Yeah--I remember--because we keep the economy going. That's right. You, me, my parents, my husband's parents and my next door neighbor. We are the workforce. We are the ones who lay low on the radar, go to work everyday, collect a paycheck, live on a budget, and pay our mortgage. We are the ones that create the steady influx of dollars to the financial institutions that keep their doors open. We're the ones who save our pennies and splurge every once in a while for a big screen TV (well not us, but you guys).

How about this--how about they take all of us who are at our 6% or 7% interest rates and cut us a deal for a year or two. Just bump us down to 4% or 5%. Guess what? We would probably spend that money and stimulate the economy. I might even take my kids to Disneyland and hire someone to paint the exterior of our house, and landscape our yard. That's an idea.

But I realize that would never happen. Because we are the worker bees. We are the dependable ones. We are the ones who are keeping things going.

For that, on behalf of me and all of my cohorts, I'd like to tell the American public this:

YOU'RE WELCOME
